Does anyone know where they hide the fuse for the macerator in a '83 30' Cat? I just replaced the macerator and I'm getting no power to the unit. The old one was locked up tight. I checked the connections at the pump. I'm hoping to avoid pulling the switch panel.

Not a 30, But . . .
In my C-27 the fuse is right next to the Macerator on-off switch inside the head on the fwd bulkhead. It sounds as if your switch is incorporated into a bigger panel elsewhere.I hope you don't have one of those inline fuses that only some previous owner knows about . . . Nick "Julia Bell" C-27 #86

Screw in fuses?
Gypsy - don't you have screw in fuses next to the switch for each circuit? Simply unscrew the cap and pull the fuse and have a look. On my 86 C27, the macerator was operated by the switch on the electrical panel, protected by the fuse, located right next to the switch. Good Luck! Tim Brogan April IV C350 #68 Seattle

I have an 83 c30. The fuse is right next to the switch on the panel. Isn't your macerator switch on the panel? Aren't all the fuses right next to the switches? By the way...I've replaced my macerator before. Every once in a while it is a good idea to run water through the macerator to lubricate the impeller. If it jams, you use a screw driver to turn the motor from the bottom of the macerator. That will free the impeller and allow it to run again.

I suggest that you think about replacing it with a properly-sized circuit breaker. By the way, the screw someone else mentioned to free a clogged macerator is only on newer models. My 1981 C-30 has the switch and the fuse right on the main panel above the chart table. You shouldn't have to open the panel. It sounds like your macerator may have not been original equipment but was added by a previous owner.

Thanks everyone. I forgot about the screw out fuses. Electrical is not a core competency. I give it a whirl. BTW, I tried to turn the screw on old one before removing, it wouldn't budge. If anyone is interested, I bought the macerator at West Marine for $139 then found it a Boaters World for $109.
