Hmm. if removed, what would prevent sea water from siphoning into the toilet bowl after a flush since the bowl is below the waterline?

Read the post again and apparently there is more than one way to skin a cat. The system on our boat is simple, cost effective and it has always worked (except when we had a clogged aft head discharge hose awhile ago) in the twenty years that we have owned her; and never have had a priming problem in all that time.
