Mac 26 Classic vs. 26X

How does the 26 Classic compare with the newer 26X sailing wise... stability, speed, overall handling? I have never sailed either - am leaning toward the 26 Classic - seems sleeker, faster etc. Not concerned about using it as a speedboat...

The Great 26X mistake

Please excuse me if I seem a little bit biase, but the 26X, in my opinion, looks like Moby Dick took a bite from it. It appears that the engineers responsible for this mistake may have skipped out on the last urinalysis test. What an embarrassment compared to the shear beauty of the 26S with it's incredible sleek and utilitarian design. My compliments to the chef!

The C is a better boat to sail

I currently own a 26c or s that is for sale. I think the 26c is a great boat. I am selling mine, but I still love it. You can trail it and it does fly in the water. I have sailed this one on lake erie a lot and have not see anything stay up with it. The 26x has more cabin room, but it does not sail as well. Every boat is a compromise, but the 26c's has few. The fact that it is water ballast and that makes it very trailerable, but it also means you need to reef the sails a little earlier than a heavy keel boat. Also, the 26c is such a bargain compared to the price of a 26x.

What's the difference between the 26c and the 26x ?
