I just bought a Mac 25 at an auction. I need PARTS! The big items I need are a full rudder and a boom. I'd like to build the rudder, is there a template I can use? Where can I get the hardware?

Rob...

I believe the spars used on the Mac25 are the same used on the Mac26C...and maybe even the 26X. I would call the factory as a first step and see if they can assist you. They might be able to assist with the rudder assembly as well. If that fails, I would be happy to give you the dimensions of the boom. With that you can contact the folks at the link below for assistance (I know you are already aware of Dwyer and they might be able to help too). The aft end cap is nothing special except for the tang for the sheet block attachment. The outhaul arrangement is independent from the cap. Just a hole on the side of the aft end of the boom with a rope poked through it and knotted, with a cleat on the opposite side. The stock gooseneck boom fitting is an oddball. It's just a cap like the end cap with a vertical slot milled into the center. A piece of aluminum round stock is drilled 1/4" where it attaches to the boom (a horizontal hole is drilled through the boom and the internal cap flange...that bolt holds the cap on and engages the round stock). Another 1/4" hole is drilled vertically through the other end of the round stock where it connects to the mast fitting. (might be a confusing description, but a diagram of this assembly is shown in the M25 manual available @ www.macgregorboats.com ) Good luck with your project.

I have a full rudder, that I would like to get rid of. I sail in a lot of shallow water. Give me a prive, and I will box it up and send it to you. I am thinking abgout $50-60 bucks. It is in good shape, but I don't want it. It deepend my draft. Let me know.

Gregg, I am interested in your rudder. Please email me at robhaynes@usa.net. Yikes, there are 5 title changes on this boat before me, and I can only document 3 for the DMV. So, I'd want to wait until I see if I can get that cleared up before spending any more money.
