Did 700hr. oil change in M25 XBP. Oil removed looked as diesel crankcase oil should after 100 hr., oily and black. Changed oil and filter, ran engine for a few minutes to confirm that everything was well. Oil on dipstick looked clean and normal. Came back to boat a few days later to some housekeeping, ran engine for about 15 minuted to charge new battery. Checking oil it now looks milky.

Engine starts and runs well, no smoke/steam in exhaust, coolant looks clean.

So, how did I introduce water in the crankcase? What are the likely points of entry? Any clues/advice appreciated.

Jeff

Sounds like

Short run condensation. Change the oil just in case and run for a few minutes and check. Then run it long enough under load to burn any condensation off. Running a diesel for short periods is not good for them but it's what we tend to do..
