M25xpb Dipstick

The dipstick in my engine does not fit tightly and has to be wire tied to keep it in. I purchased this one about 3 years ago. The part# is 200901 which has been replaced with part# 200728. The price online is 64.10. Pretty expensive for a dipstick. Any other suggestions, I have not tried armor all yet on the rubber but may.

Thanks,
Mark

Can you replace the rubber fitting on the stick?

I tried that when I bought the one 3 years ago. Not a part you can buy. I thought about bringing it to an auto parts shop and try to match it.

Found a thread on the Catalina 36 website.
It references a Kabota part that might interest you.

I am not sure it fits the specs for your engine but at the listed price of $16 thought it would be worth your looking into it.

The rubber grommet on the radio antenna of my old BMW Z3 roadster tore when I washed the car this summer. Crazy expensive little rubber grommet.

I got some black rubber liquid gasket stuff, and filled the area that tore. Once dry, it was just like new rubber.

If it was me, I would get a tube of the liquid rubber, smear a bit on the rubber part of the dipstick to build it up just a bit, and let it dry. Maybe ease the dipstick into the tube a little to make sure you didn’t build it up too much (not sure how hard it is to shave it down if you had to once it cured).

Wouldn’t take much more than a little smear it sounds like.

Hi Mark, any luck with the dipstick? I have the same issue.

I took mine out to the local Kabota dealer and they match it up with what they had in stock. Then went for a really nice lunch.

Just to bide my time I used black electrical tape and raped it up to the same shape as the rubber. It worked really well until I got a replacement.

I just ordered the part today I will let you know if it works. Printed on the bottom of the dipstick was 16224-36411 this is a Kubota part, when I called it in the salesman said it was 36410 not 36411 the part in a previous reply 15381-36410, he said that was not the right one. Check your dipstick and see if their is a part# on it. Will let you know when I get the part.

15381-36410 - This Serial # was from a Catalina 36?

It worked fine, sorry for the delay. I bought it through Country Sales and Service, www.countrysalesand service.com 330-683-2500. I had to call to order it I could not find it on the website. The cost was 27.50 with 20.00 for shipping. Shipping seemed a little high. I did check the part on other websites and I believe you can find it cheaper. 16224-36410 was the correct part#. Hope this helps.
