out of curiosity and planning for future travels, what is the typical gph used for the M25 universal diesel engine? I have seen some claim a 1/4 gallon per hour used. I have the standard 20 gal fuel tank and was wondering what kind of range i could expect (without sail).

Much too good

What it really is 0.483 (or so) gallons per hour. We don't have a working fuel gauge, and I've been keeping track on a spreadsheet for the past ten years. This is for an M25 engine, not an M25XP (which is a tad larger, so it's pretty much the same) or for the other later M30 and M35 engines which use more fuel.

thanks Stu

appreciate the response and i have read some of your former posts/replies. I'm planning a trip from San Diego to Catalina Island this fall and was concerned about how much reserve fuel I should bring. With light winds in this area and an early departure for the 18hr trip looks like i will need less fuel than anticipated in the event i become becalmed. thanks again for all of your informative posts. Joe
