Bob, that sounds pretty good. Mine should fit in my rudder channel as well. Could it be used for easier mounting of the outboard?

It was early November and the water was not too cold yet. I never thought I was in danger until I later reflected on how I would get out if no ladder was available. If I had been in cold water good chance I do not get out alone. IN THE MARINA! What an embarrasing epitaph
We're both in Maryland, and I checked with our dockmaster here on Back Creek/Annapolis, and he says adding the additional dock and bulkhead ladders was a code requirement to make our marina up to legal code. He no longer had that info as to which govenment agancy mandated the code. Perhaps you might inquire of your town/county officials? Don't ask the marina, though.

Frank, My rudder post leans back at the same angle as the transom; therefore if you swung a motor from the gin pole mounted within the rudder post, it may just be able to line up to mount the motor when the tiller is moved toward the starboard side. I have to pull the boat out from under the tarp/tent to find out, but it should work. Also the gin pole support lines that run to the pulpit will need connection points added to support the weight (same idea as when used for mast raising). The nice thing about the square tubes I used is that they will will rotate together, not slip as round ones. I am liking this better all the time :)

That would be pretty cool. I looked at some old picts of my rudder and the tiller handle covers the top of the channel. I would have to figure something else out to make it work,

I have it tied up with a loop hooked on the stern anchor chock. I can easily reach this from the water. I deploy it before diving but normaly keep it tied up to reduce drag.
