Lunch Hook

Based on this thread...

... any hook would work. May help to refine your criteria, i.e., how important is cost? Where to store it? Weight? If money were no concern (ha!) I'd get a Fortress as it's light and easy to store. They just cost too much. If cost were primary, I'd buy a used 12lb Danforth from a consignment shop as they are cheap and what can go wrong with an anchor? You don't need an expensive and heavy lunch hook, IMHO.

good advice Pete

I got my small danforth at a re-sale shop for $20 including the chain. The chail alone new would cost more then that.

I heard of someone

trying to set an anchor without success and they finally hauled it up to head for another place and found that they had snagged an old quilt.

Thanks Guys....

Sorry I kind of disappeared... got sucked in by "real" life (ie non-boat, non-internet). Thanks for all the answers. I have a couple of anchors on my boat. I have yet to use them. From the sounds of it I probably have what on need on board. The description of a lunch hook had me thinking it was something easier to deploy than the regular old anchor. (Which maybe true for the bigger boats.) In the spring I will check out my ground tackle and see what I have. Thanks, Jeremy
