SteveWhat you described will help but if the boat is still out of the water, you probably want to do it more thoroughly. Depending on what type sea cock, some have grease fittings you can remove for this purpose. Regardless of what type, you'd be best using a waterproof grease e.g., Lubriplate, as it will last much longer than lithium grease. If you don't have grease fittings, get access from both sides (requires removing the interior hoses or disassembly of the seacock).Having said the above, I've done it both ways depending on how easy it was to remove the hoses and find doing it correctly does make a difference. Regardless, lithium grease will wash away pretty fast.
