On my newest boat, I am replacing the odds-and-ends exhaust hose remnants used by the PO to plumb the head, with one-and-a-half inch sanitation hose throughout. But I had enormous trouble getting the new hose over the first of the plastic y-valve fittings that I tried, and I'd like some advice about an appropriate lubricant -- one that will work, not rot the pipe or hose, and possibly go away so as not to leave the connection, to the through-hulls in particular, perpetually slippery. How about petroleum jelly, KY jelly, liquid detergent? Also, I looked around and found some very old Johns-Manville "Ring_Tite Lubricant" listed for transite pipe or PVC pipe with a ring-tite joint. Does anyone know what this stuff may be good for -- or what transite pipes or joints may be, for that matter? Thanks.
