Lubing the wheel

[RNC725]

We sail a 2002 Hunter 326, new to us. Has an autopilot on the wheel. Sitting here at home and just to thinking about it but don't have the manuals here. Thoughts? Advice? Procedures? Wheel works fine, no noises just curious about maintenance on the wheel and autopilot, we sail in fresh water.

What kind of autopilot and model #? What kind of wheel? If the wheel is Edson you can find the manual for maintenance online at edsonmarine.com. Usually autopilot problems are from the belts and cluthes. There have been many discussions here about those issues.

Do not get lube or grease on or in the wheel pilot. It will damage it. Do rinse it with fresh water.

Several You Tube videos on wheel maintenance. I researched the videos before I greased the bearings and oiled the chain.
