what is the best spray line for blocks and sheaves metal or plastic

By far the best lubricant I've found is Tri-Flow Superior Lubricant. I don't use the spray, just drop by drop. I think it's more economical and I wouldn't want the over-spray.
I use it sparingly on everything from sliding doors (on sportfishing boats and motor yachts) to oiling the bearings on our electric fans each time we disassemble them for cleaning.

Harken does not recommend slippery spray lubes for blocks or travellers. They recommend OneDrop, which is basically a thin mineral oil.

SailKote can make the balls skid instead of roll, which is worse.

So to summarize use:
  • Sailkote for things that slide (including telltales)
  • OneDrop for things that roll (bearings in cars and blocks)

I've heard you need to use a dry lubricant and use different lubes for metal or plastic
