LPG ?Tank Replacement

I recently purchased a 2001 Hunter 340. One of the things I quickly noted was the fact that the 4lb LPG tank was completely rusted out. I would like to replace the tank with an aluminum one, but I am having difficulty finding one that will fit into the tank-well. Any replacement tank recommendations? I know from the archive posts that the standard steel tank is a Worthington. Have other owners had any difficulty with excessive rust? If so, any effective way to lessen the rust? The rubber rim around the tank well seems to fit fine with no leaks. For a tank to completely rust out in less than 2 years seems excessive. Thanks for any feedback... Rob McClain

Live with rust...

The 340 used the same tank as the 320 (which I had). I did research a couple years ago, and found that the small steel tank did not have a same-size aluminum replacement. It sounds like there was standing water in your compartment for it to rust out so soon. You might want to try to keep water out of the that area, and make sure the tank gets painted if any new rust appears. BTW, the cheapest place I found to buy a tank was through my Hunter dealer. Have them add a tank to a new boat as it is delivered, and then buy the extra tank off the boat. Should be about $75 or so. Steve

I replaced with steel tanks

I could not find aluminum tanks, but I did find 4.25 lb steel tanks relatively cheaply, for under $50.00 a piece Look up: www.rei.com r/tks
