Learning more and more about our Hunter 375 thanks to this site. I have a question about how you lower the salon table to make it into a berth. It looks like it should lower down using the line that is tied to the table but that doesn't seem to work. I finaaly just untied the line underneath the table and lowered it. The line goes into the stress post at the roof and there is a sheave but can't figure out why as the line dones not move in or out of the post. Am I missing something?

I'm guessing that your table setup is similar to my 336 - in any case, the counter weight inside the mast support can get wedged in such a manner that it won't move - either up or down. Our 40.5 should be the same
Yours should work exactly like the 40.5, unless someone has changed it. There is a lid in the top of the table that you pull off. Under the lid, there should be a lever than you can loosen. Then the table just goes up and down easy. When you find the height you like, tighten the lever up.

Okay, that makes sense as the surveyor said there is a counter weight in the compression post but it must be wedged in there as the line doesn't go in or out. I'll try to get it dis-lodged.

Adjusting the table
Tom My guess is that you are the victim of one of the main problems with the hunter. The mast leaks! Yep the conduit for the wiring is too short and since in heavy rain the drain cant keep up with it, it goes down the mast and fills up your "stripper" pole. Result, rusted counterweight that is jammed. Since this requires stepping the mast, or a lucky strike with a mallet, you may be out of luck. What we did is... hooked a small turnbuckle to the existing rope (so we didnt have to cut it) and attached two small cleats to the bottom of the table. Next ,bought a screwdriver socket from home depot to tighten and loosen the collar nut and bingo! Poor sailors fix. We just adjust it.. cleat it off.. and then tighten the collar nut. One final thought, tap the pole. If it doesnt "ring" you probably have water ballast
I solved this by drilling a small hole just above the collar at the base of the compression post and fitted it with a drip line attachment (for your flower bed) and some drip line hose which just goes to the bilge under the floor board. Cant even see it. Hope this helps Rick s/v Whiskey Chaser
