Moving my 87 Hunter 25.5 to another lake.Fixed keel has made it very difficult to find someone to transport it. I have never lowered the mast before and need guidance. Is there an instruction manual or a site on the web.

Too big

Any mast over 20 feet should be done by a yard with a crane. Easy manuever for them, dangerous for you by hand. Trust me. The way it's done is to loosen all the shrouds and then release the forestay. Then release the other three and pull it off the boat, vertically.

Not difficult at all

I have raised and lowered the mast on my 25.5 several times. There are a number of articles here in the archives. It is not a difficult task, especially if you have help and follow the steps. The 25.5 mast is actually hinged at the deck so it is easier than many.

We had.....

....a Venture 25 years ago. Raised and lowered the mast all the time solo. Use a little common sense and follow the step by step and it goes very easy. No worries.
