Called a friend, still awaiting the answer

Hi - I called a friend with an O'day 25 but talked to his answering machine. I'll let you know when he gets back to me. I've never dealt with the swinger 25, only the fin. I would expect that you'll find a winch in the area of the companionway, and that letting line out (slowly) will alow the CB to drop. I'm not sure if there is a pin to secure it in the down position or not. Justin - O'day Owner's Web

Penent Particulars

JP: I own a swing CB/keel OD25. There were 2 models of CB lowering mechanisms that I'm aware of. One had a winch device installed on a tube within the cabin. The other has the penent mounted on a cleat on the bridge deck within the cockpit. Both had a rope/wire penent attached to the aft edge of the CB via a clip device. Most owners have long sinced replaced these clips as they corroded apart. The wire exited through a tube down through the floor and into the bilge area and on down to the CB. The CB tucks up inside the stump keel, and is essentially a low weighted CB, weighing in at about 40lbs I believe. It is for directional stability only as all the ballast is in the stub keel. Once you locate that CB penent, simply let it loose to lower that CB. Haul up to bring it into the slot. Fairly straight forward. Good luck. Don Evans
