All the rigging was lost to the boat before i bought it... I'm wondering the best way to attach the lower part of the jib. There is a hole for the forstay, and there are these two hooks that appear to be where the jib hooks on. Can someone explain how this hooks up... and why "two" hooks there? best wishes and Thanks! Kai

The attachment point of the jib/genoa to the bottom of the forestay is called the "tack". This is done with a shackle not a hook. If you have 2 shackles, then you have the ability to change sails on the fly. This means you can hoist a second sail before you lower the first so there is no need to go "headless". Dropping (peeling) a sail inside another which is already flying makes it very easy to control the lowering of the sail.

Still curious??

Actually, I'm talking about the hardware on the boat, not the sail. There is an attachment hole for the forestay, and alongside that there are two hook like peices, and they may be for two sails, (although I don't understand how you can raise one sail while the other is still up), but I'm still curious about how these "hooks" are emplyed in attaching the jib. many thanks Kai

hooks are for reefing

I have found on my 82' H25 that the 2 inverted hooks are used on my jib for reefing. Depending on which side of the boat the jib is on at the time, my jib has reefing grommets that I would hook with these hooks. The jib tack attaches at the bow using a snap shackle that is mounted between these hooks.
