I am interested in what is the setpoint for your low voltage alarm coming off of the alternator regulator. I replaced my batteries last year with (4) Crown golf cart batteries and when fully charged read somewhere between 12.4 to 12.6 volts when under small load and not connected to the alternator. My regulator is a balmar ARS 105 which has the default low voltage setpoint at 12.7 volts. With the engine idling I almost always have the low voltage warning light on which just bothers the heck out of me. As soon as I rev up the engine the alternator starts it's charge cycle 13.4 volts at the float voltage and the alarm which is actually a warning light clears. The ARS manual provides instructions on how to lower the setpoint. Does anyone see any problem with lowering the setpoint to 12.4 volts which would be sufficient to clear the alarm? I guess the tradeoff is I might not know if the alternator fails until the batteries start to discharge.
