and yes it was cheaper to ship it to detroit, but also we could dump 10,000 tons on your dock right next to your power house in 4 hrs. trains take allot of infrastructure to dump at your plant. it's all gone now. huge pollution issues or so some claim. that's a joke. it's good that the old ways are gone.
in the first video you see the oiler making his rounds. all the oil to lube that engine spilled into the bilge. many many gallon every day. you would pump the bilges every night, never during the day, on the run.
