Love Hate relationship

I like a Bimini that's plenty wide enough to span from one outboard genny track to the other, without bending the legs outward.
We have a guy who custom makes stainless biminis here and he prefers to make them slighty wider than needed, and pulls the bottoms into place. Basically inducing a slight bow.
Apparently, that makes them more stable ?
No idea if that works as well with more flexible aluminium. Length would be a factor.
No real experience here, just what I was told by him and putting it out there.
