ICW water ways
Louis,YOu can certainly navigate to the lake via ICW .How ever I need to point out a few things,1. GAs will be hard to get along the way for abt 200 miles. After you leave bolivar roads at mi 355 ICWW, the next gas station will be around mile 285 in Port author at 1000 foot cut " beans fleet " .after that the next gas is at mile 240 in lake charles. " Duval fleet can direct you to gas from there on vhf ch. 19 and 73.2. the ditch will be very busy with barge traffic "VHF CH 13 ". MONITOR IT CLOSELY.3 There are NO marinas for transit vessels along the ICW after you pass mile 340 which is just east of stever's cut.4. This time of year is the time we get the most fog, so be prepared to find a hole and get in it. Some times we run in the fog with barge tows. Often we travel the ICW 108 ft wide by 300 ft long when empty. This would be a fun trip and very enjoyable if done SAFELY.You will want to bring LOTS of gas incase you get caught.
