At this post there are 152 guest and 38 registered users. How addicting is this board! Only got about another 150,000 hits before we reach the 6,000,000 mark for Hunter page - WHO will be the lucky user to send us over the top. Oh well, guess I better go do some work... Boring? Not...

It's not that it's boring at work, Jim. But like the old saying "A bad day of sailing is still better than a good day at work," time spent on a sailing-related web site is still better than working, period. Later on day I'll work twice as hard to make up the difference. Pete s/v EmmieLou (Oday 322) Little Silver, NJ

Work? |What work?

Been there, done that, got the company tee-shirt in lieu of a raise or other appreciation. I'm outta there. Retired. Life is good.

Retire

Probably most of the posts are from us boomers that are taking the early outs from the corperation maddness, to enjoy life. Way to many good friends have left the blue marble too early in life. The time for ME is now, it's no guarentee but it beats listening to some young putz telling you how he's going to be the next vp on your back. I do like retirement so far,(7 years) and think I'll remain retired and write on this site for while yet. Todays the last milestone in life I turn 62 and the ss check is in the mail, life is good!

Retire?

Al has it right, retire as soon as possible. I "jumped ship" at age 56, 10 years ago and have never looked back. It is really great to sit in the marina on Sun. night and listen to neighbors moan about having to fight the Sun. afternoon traffic going home to make it to work on Mon. morn. We pretty much live on the boat all summer and only go home to check mail and house now and then. Very few people lie on their death beds and say "Gee, I wish I would have spent more time in the office!" Fair winds Dave PS. I am not really bragging, just encouraging. retiring early was the best decision I have ever made!

All I gotta say...

... is that my worst day on the boat/water was better than my best day in an office. Next best thing to sailing is talking about sailing with other sailors....

Al, I hope that you have an inflation proof

pension. It is true that you could check out early but you may also live for another thirty years. Consider how much you were paid when you started working and how much they pay entry level empoloyees today. In thirty years that same ratio will probably exist.

I have never had a job that was boring

or that I didn't like. If I find that I would like to do something different than my present job I just set about learning what I need to make the change. I have no plans to retire but I also don't try to kill myself working either.
