I agree. It is very odd and it threw me off. Thanks for the information.

I ran a multi-wire boat cable to wire in the SH to the Garmin. I have some unused wires and it ties in right at the Garmin harness end, which is near the negative bus bar. I will probably tie in at the bus bar then.

Finished wiring solution:
1. Blue SH to Blue Garmin
2. Brown SH to Violet Garmin
3. Gray SH to Brown Garmin
4. Green SH to Black Garmin at bus bar.

Yup, (memory failed me) I now remember cursing the tiny wires on both radio and chart plotter.
I used a terminal strip, black to green and a second black to the buss bar negative.

Looks like you got it, but am following up anyway as promised.
Yes SH green goes to Garmin black. Then ground the garmin black.
BTW remember to switch your Garmin to high speed 38400 NMEA or the AIS plotting won't work.
