My main halyard seperated form the shakle on the main sail and went down into the mast. fishing for it seems impossible and there is no way to get to it from the base of the mast. Does anyone know the best way to retreve my halward? Thank you TK
on a friends boat, we ended up taking the halyard all the way out, putting the mast up on an angle, then with a small fishing sinker tied to 6lb. test fishing line worked that line all the way through. next tape an end of the fishing line to a halyard end and gently pull, shake, roll, and pull some more until you have it through. good luck. use heavier fishing line if you mast is long and/or full of stuff (elec. wires, antenna wire and the like.)
