We recently acquired a very nice Morgan 25 Classic at the end of last season. Upon hauling it out we discovered the centerboard had broken the pin and fallen out. We have spent most of this season trying to get info on replacement or making a new one. Has anybody any information or ideas as to what we can do most expeditiously and economically? jvdbaan@yahoo.com

Since I am "refreshing" my 25, the centerboard has been removed, and is available for inspection, mesurments, or maybe a foam casting, if that could help. I am not skilled at any of these things, but what ever help it can be, it's available in Connecticut.

M25 Centerboard
Hey all, how have you made out with your C/B issues? i have drawings and tons of information on this. I have a M24 (same as M25) and the previous owner had the c/b replace...he lost the first one with the pin falling out. he had it made by a company in florida..i think i have the receipts and contact information if anyone is in need.. M-25 Centerboard
Jan Apparently the centerboard was a weak point in an otherwise beautiful boat. My M-24 lost its centerboard in a squall the weekend we bought it. Miraculously, I recovered it. The problem seemed to be twofold: first, when the bronze blocks that keep the pin in place wear down, the centerboard will cant in the trunk and put a lot of pressure on the area of the board around the pin; second, the SS cable that activates the board has a swedge fitting on the end that will eventually break the cable at the point of exit from the fitting. I currently have my CB on the bench at my shop and can detail the shape and construction for you. It weighs about 75lbs and appears to be a sheet of steel surrounded by resin and cloth. I had to do an extensive rebuild to the area around the pivot pin and the critical top edge that has to clear the top of the trunk while it swings a 90 degree arc and guide the cable at the same time. I also have devised a hydraulic system that activates the CB and eliminates a lot of cable and a couple of turning blocks. I had to do somethig after I installed an inboard deisel that blocked the old layout. Bob Horan of Warner Robins, GA. has a website devoted to M-24 and more links and stories about the CB et al.
