Just lost 100' G4 chain and 35lbs delta anchor in a cold lake at 40'

Unfortunately, we did not mark our location.

Any tips for recovery/replacement? Could our marine insurance cover this type of claim?

If you know the approximate area try dragging a grapnel in a dink. If you're lucky you might just catch on to the chain. Of course the type of bottom makes a difference. Hopefully it's sand and not rocky.

You could hire a diver if you have a general idea where it might be, and it isn't too remote. There are also magnets available for this kind of work, you can drag like a grapnel. Easier to find this way than the grapnel, but perhaps harder to retrieve unless to find the end of the chain. May find it with the magnet, and retrieve with the grapnel.

Follow up to lost anchor post..WE FOUND IT! GPS was coincidentally left on, in "track route" mode no less! We pinpointed our location, and recovered the delta anchor w 100' g4 chain using SCUBA. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the followup. Did you dive on it yourself or hire someone? What does something like that cost?

I was quoted $50/hr w a 2 hour minimum by a local dive shop. I rented the equipment and dove in myself. The rest was luck -
