Lorna Doone is alive!

Greetings Everyone,

Just letting you know that I am the new owner of Albin Vega 1517,
better known as Lorna Doone! I'm very happy with the purchase, the
price was a little high but considering the boat and equipment
included I found it acceptable.

As you may know, Lorna Doone was previously sailed around the world
from Victoria, Canada by Tony Skidmore. After some standard
upgrades I intend to sail Lorna Doone on a circumnaviagation route,
starting March 2007.

Like all new owners I created a rather large list of upgrades and
modifications but after evaluating the existing systems I am finding
that the list is getting shorter. I have gained considerable
insight from just evaluating the onboard systems established by
Tony. I also agree with the Pardey's self sufficient sailor
concepts, although Lorna Doone is powered with a well conditioned
Yanmar 1GM to my delight.

I really enjoy the postings on the Albin Vega group!

PS - I've read the book!

Best Regards,
Greg

Greg:
Congratulations. I've read a lot about Lorna Doone and got a look at
her a couple of years ago at Oak Bay Marina. I keep my Vega at
Pedder Bay Marina, where apparently Tony Skidmore kept her at one
time.

Any chance of you making it to the Northwest Rendezvous at Pender
Island in September?

Hi Peter,

I can try to arrange things to line up with the rendezvous, what
specific dates in September?

I just joined the Owners Association so I should be in the loop on
events.

I'm taking a bunch of time off to go sailing in July/August so I will
have to get a little creative to make the rendezvous, I will plan to
be there.

Thanks for the heads up!

Regards,
Greg

Hi Peter,

Just letting you know that I will not be able to make the rondevous. I just got back from a Hawaii - Victoria sailing trip, lots of wind!!

Have a great time at the rondevous and thanks for the invite.

Best Regards,
Greg

Hey Chuck!

That's a great place you living, I wish I would have contacted you,
I was in Lahaina for a couple days. Pretty busy getting the boat
(C&C 44) prepared for the return passage.

That was the first time I had been to the Islands and I completely
enjoyed everything. I can't wait to sail there on my boat!

Best Regards and see you later!
Greg
