Loose Strut

I noticed there is some side to side movement of the strut when I pulled the boat this year. It is very slight but probably a harbinger of some deeper problem. The strut is located right beneath the fuel tank with no clearance, my question is does anyone know how this strut is mounted to the boat. There appears to be a large fiberglass "hump" on the inside right above the strut. Or do you know any Oday experts that I can contact?

I am in the process of purchasing an O'day 34, 1984 with a similar sounding issue with the strut...side to side play. Also have the fuel tank installed directly over the strut area.
Did you resolve the issue on your boat? If so, what's the story?

A guy working at the marina drilled a small (1") through from outside and injected resin into a void that was there. Problem solved, stiff as a board and quite reasonable. My fuel tank was over the strut area also, thought I was in for a big head ache.

Turns out the boat we're looking at has had the loose strut since the last survey in 2008 with over 100 hours on the engine since then.

This is on my work list for the boat after we buy...we'll see if we can resolve with a similar approach.
