I put on the Weather Channel and I guess the Pacific storm approaching CA,WA & OR is going to be a doozy. What are our members there doing to hunker down? Don't forget to take some pics for us.

Rain

I did not read the report but hope they get much needed rain
in Ca. but not so much to do damage.
I love my fruit & veggie's and that is where we get most and hate
paying more.

Looks like all h+++ is going to break out this afternoon. High winds, lightening, flooding and of course lots of rain. Fortunately my sailboat is in its boathouse and not in the water over on the coast. I am behind Lake Oroville in Butte Co. at 2300' in N. Cal. Expect power loss so will get set up when I can get outside as it is still dark out there.at 0700! Chief

Does not appear it will get much rain to parched SoCal. We are predicted to get less than an inch from it. Meanwhile we're looking at 72 today with about 5 mph of wind. Meanwhile, I keep wondering who thought a desert could support 3.5 million people lusting for lush green lawns. Oh yeah, "it's just Chinatown."

Nothing yet in San Jose. Just got back from a 25 mile bike ride. Wind is about 5 mph from the south.

Chief, anything up your way yet?

Just got off of the Boat USA site, they are not forecasting much of anything down, other than larger than normal swells between Catalina and Santa Monica Bay.If you'r tucked in to your slip in MDR, you will sleep well.
It seems that our northern storms make a right turn at Santa Barbara, and LA seems to get the edges. They are talking about a COLD one though, so the Graqpevine out of or into So. Cal will be impacted by snow.

It really does seem that when it's nice here, everybody else is getting it. They came and made a snowpile, took it away, then came back last night and made another, much smaller one. They better take that away soon, after the crap from YVR gets here in the next couple of days, we'll be back at it.

I'm almost disappointed. But am glad there isn't the high wind problem. My brother lives in Carmel and has been talking about the drought for. like 5 years now. I know a lot of those areas need the rain - if not the mudslides. A good mountain snow would be a big help I guess.
Chief, I had to google Lake Oroville. Is that lake sailable?

Andrew: I am getting some wind gusts now but "Bay Area Stu" says no storm until midnight.
Yes, Lake Oroville is the 2nd largest lake in California. It's in bad shape right now but still huge amounts of water in it. At full level it has about 180 miles of shoreline and is in excess of 600' deep. That means there are areas still around 400' deep right now. Our problem is S. Cal needs more and more water and we no longer can sustain them. All hell will break loose over this soon. Chief

If they'd only cover their damn pools. Not remove them, just cover them, and stop with the huge lawns.

But, statistically, only 10-16% of California's water use is domestic, the rest is agricultural. I'd be willing to give up my almonds. :)

The winds and rain just hit here and coming down pretty hard. Called my friend over in Forestville near Bodega Bay Ca and the storm has hit there too. Stu, you must have it as well since you are south of Forestville? Chief
