I am going to have to spend all of next week out at Eglin Field and was wondering if some nice person wanted to take me sailing one afternoon/evening after work. I will bring the drinks

Gee, Rick...

I wish I was still up there! I'd have been glad to take you out, but I left Eglin with my H23 in tow about a year and a half ago... You may be able to hitch a ride with a sailor out of the marina, which is well hidden in housing, back by the O-Club- If they haven't torn it down for renovations yet. There are two other marinas right on Eglin Main base, one out by the FamCamp beach (which is where MWR rents the pontoon boats and such), but I don't remember too many sailboats in that one. The other one is Ben's Lake, but there are no facilities there other than docks. If you REALLY want to sail in the area (read: are willing to pay a few bucks), contact Jim Edwards from Leeside Sailing (or is it Leeside Yacht Charters?). He's got a few Catalina 25's and a Catalina 27 available for chartering, and he's usually very reasonable with the fees. The boats are all in good condition, and he also plays a mean guitar with the house band in the marina's Tiki bar! If you decide to go that route, tell him I said hi... Good luck! --Jon Bastien H25 'Adagio' (The link below is to the marina and hotel where Jim runs his operation. Not much info about it, I'm afraid...)

Thanks, Jon

The marina has been tore up and rebuilt and may actually be open this month. An old neighbor of ours from Langley had his boat there, it is going to be a real nice facility. If I get so hard up as to pay for it I may go look your buddy up.

Give me a call

Hey Rick, give me a call (850-865-8138) and I'll take you out on our H31. My weekend is booked with Mother's Day and all, but there is plenty of daylight after work. Bob
