Hindsight is 20/20, learn from us
Our winter cover (sunbrella) was made in a way that works but I would make some changes. Bring it down to bottom of lifelines and tie off there. Otherwise it still gets alot of dirt and water/sun on deck/cockpit. Anyplace you have cutouts for shrouds, backstays, etc, have marine leather around the hem of the fabric or it will chaf bad when wind gets it flapping. Also, if it touches dodger, have leather patches sewn to dodger on corners of contact to keep canvas on canvas chaf at bay. if it goes around your mainsail cover, have your mainsail cover modified by putting black rubber material (thats what our canvas maker used) on your mainsail in that circle to keep from chafing. It is amazing what one season of several 40-60 mph days can do to your poor canvas. Keep that in mind when designing and save yourself some greif.Doug
