My S2 8.5 was t-boned by a powerboat over the weekend. It bent all four stanchions on the port side and snapped the lifeline. Otherwise seems to be ok. No injuries other than a sprain when bracing for impact. Her turning ability saved us from a direct hit amidships to more of a glancing blow off the forward port quarter - about even with the shouds. Turned about 45 degrees in a second or two. A 28' Mainette moving at about 8-10 knots bounced off and got a hell of a dent inthe hull. Very impressed with the strutural strenght of the S2. A lesser boat would have cracked the toerail and fiberglass. She certainly took a bullet for the crew.
Anyway, I'm in the market for 4 stanchions and a top lifeline (about 25' long). I'd like ot find OEM by Top-in Quality, preferably used. I heard TIQ went out of business. Their website now links to a different company.
