We have a trailerable Hunter 260. We are looking for a site to take the boat in southern Wisconsin. We like to sleep on the boat but like marina services like showers, pumpouts, etc. Any recommendations?

Southern Wisconsin

Mike, There are a number of good locations in southern Wisconsin.South to North #1 Racine-Beautiful new marina #2 Milwaukee-McKinley Marina older but good facilities and lots to do in Milwaukee-New Art Museum,Great Restaurants,Music & Micro Brewerys. I'm partial to Milwaukee since I'm berthed at McKinley Marina. #3 Port Washington- Nice small town good Marina. It has a New England feel to it. That's my $.02 worth! Contact me if you have any questions. My e-mail: rweaver@pruproperties.com

Wis. hidden sailing lake

If your looking for a inland lake in central Wis. Give Petenwell Lake south of Wis. Rapids a look. Its not crowded and has a nice marina at the Lure Bar and also at the Adams County Park. Try the Barnum Bay Yacht Clubs web site for info. Happy Sailing

A couple of options

McKinley Marina in Milwaukee is great (newly refurbished floating docks, and facilities). In addition, both Port Washington and Racine are nice day sails from Milwaukee The only downside to McKinley is they charge you an arm and a leg for trailer storage ($15/day). Concerning inland lakes, Mendota in Madison is supposedly pretty good and Madison is a pretty cool place to hang out. If you want to consider a little longer trip, Door County is great. Lot's of boats hang out just off of Peninsula park and there is lots to do. You can park your car in Peninsula Park State Park for a couple bucks a day. They do have showers at the campground but there are also plenty of marina's as well. If you do Door County, get a good set of charts, and then talk to some people at the marina's because lake levels are still low. Good luck and have fun. I'm envious!
