Someone stole my sails. Any ideas one where to look for replacements, how much to pay, etc. I am very new to sailing. Will sails for any 22' sailboat fit my Catalina? Thanks.

A list online of used sails

Check out this site: http://staff.clickfeed.com/~rturpin//sail/usedsails.html It has a list of websites with used sails. If you're new to sailing, this is the way I'd go. New sails are nice but they also cost A LOT more and many folks who race trade in perfectly good cruising sails to upgrade to special racing sails. Sorry to hear about the loss of your sails - I still can't understand the mindset that it's ok to just take stuff from others. Jerks suck! LaDonna

Another source for sails

Here's another source for sails. Try Lee Sails, their web site is email leesailsne@aol.com, phone 631-654-8008. They have great prices on sails e.g. a 150% Genoa for $395 . It's sad to hear that a fellow sailor would steal your sails. Good Luck

I have a main

Hi, Sorry to hear about your loss. Karhma being the b**ch that she is I wouldnt want to go sailing on the thiefs boat! New sails are very expensive ( I just paid $1500 for a new main and genoa) If you are going to invest in new sails remember that you get what you pay for and you should have them for a long time, so don't be penny wise and pound foolish. Right now it shouldnt matter much as you are new to sailing but as you progress you will be dissapointed with el cheapo sails. I've already sold my jib for $75.00 and would let the main go for $75 also. It is a standard batton Cat 22 main with one set of reef points. It is older with a bolt rope but will get you back out on the water and buy you a couple of seasons to save up for a new set of sails. Email me a tpctahoe@aol.com if you are interested. Good luck, Tim
