Recently acquired a 1984 37C Hunter with a propane stove and heater. The tank was left in a deck-top style square locker tucked under the rear lazarette and which was neither secured or vented. Planning on moving to a diesel style heater but was thinking the propane stove would be worth keeping. So, I'm looking for a smarter solution that does not take up that lazarette space for storage (or makes better use of that space in as a solution) and was hoping that some other owners might have pictures of their installations.

Really not much room for propane tanks. There was this one in "mods": http://hunter.sailboatowners.com/in...&cat_id=38&aid=7341&page=article&mn=37-cutter . Wouldn't be my choice. I remember when Rainbow Chaser made two custom lockers that mounted to his transom. Then there are those that hang the tank(s) from the stern rails. The best that you might find in "mods" was a 30 or 33 where they used the small tanks, cut a hinged opening in the corner(s) of the aft cockpit, and installed lockers in those corners.

P.S. found that H33 mod: http://hunter.sailboatowners.com/in...7&cat_id=28&aid=7375&page=article&mn=33_77-83 .

When we bought our 37c one yr ago, the po had installed a tank on the side deck. We didn't like that location for a variety of reasons, so we moved it to the aft stern rail and I made a cover for it for when not using it. Pics show before and after.

These people have the best prices I have found. Worthington tank is not interested in dealing with customers. WM is $200 ++ for the tanks, other sources on the web are higher than the $140 they are asking. We have one, and several 1lb. tanks to cover us till we get to a marina/cab/propane refiller. Good thing about 6# can is that it is easy to carry on a bus/cab/borrowed bicycle.
