I'm looking for lines drawings, or plans drawings, of a 17.5 ft. O'Day DaySailer 2. These would show fore and aft views of the boat's sections, plus views from directly above and below, and also a side view, or profile. I'm thinking of building a model of my boat -- but I don't have time to take her lines off myself. A set of drawings would be a great help; a major time-saver. Anyone have any ideas about where I might find them?

So would I

If you come up with the plans or drawings, I would also be interested in knowing where you got them from. They are not in Mystic. Ed K

I don' thnk they exist in the public domain

I wrote a book on this boat a couple of years ago and did some fairly extensive research on the history and manufacture. I found a general lines drawing but nothing else. I suspect that if they exist at all, they would be with the current builder, althogh more than likely, the current builder only has the molds. e-mail me at roger02 att mts dott net and mention the general lines request and I'll send it to you.

Uffa Fox was the designer along with George O'Day. If you look at Uffa Fox's web site, you can order line drawings from him http://www.uffafox.com/daysail.htm

info and question

As I understand it, Nickels boat works (www.nickelsboats.com) is now the official manfg. for the DS. They may be able to help you. I have a DS 1 and would be interested in making a model if you locate line drawings for that model. I also have an O'Day 23 and have been considering a winter project to make a model of it but do not have drawings. If you find a source for either the DS 1 or the 23 I would like to know about it. Well...

...I've had no luck so far finding study plans for a DS 2... nothing from nickelboats... and, Roger, did you get my email request in response to your kind offer? If nothing else, I'll go ahead and take the lines off my own boat, draw up a set of study plans, create a table of offsets, and then offer them here for those of you who'd like to have them, in exchange for both your interest and your helpful suggestions. It may take me a while, 'cause my boat lives outside under a boat cover. So, wintry weather and spare time permitting, I'll try to get it done as soon as I can. btw, does anyone ever heard of, or know anything about Carlson's hull designing program? It's offered for free at simplicityboats dot com slash hulldesigner dot html.
