Our 1982 Hunter 37C suffered damage in the recent sweep of Irene over Lake Champlain.

Our starboard aft most free standing stanchion is toast. I'm looking for another that I can use to replace it. From the web search I have done it appears the only versions available are deck mount with added post. What I have is a single component version, which accommodates two life lines and bolts through the deck in two places and through the metal tow rail in two places.

Can anyone help me locate one?

Regards,
Jim S.

Yours are the same as mine Jim. Over on the Cherubini forum you might find "Jorge" and ask him to check his salvage source. Used to be that "TIQ"(Tops-In-Quality") in Michigan would make those. But they were purchased by someone, maybe you can find them. Then Garhauer does a lot of custom work. I just had one welded recently but it was just bent at the base. Let us know what you find.

Just noticed your year, 1982. You probably have the base that is bent over and doesn't use the spacer.

If it is like my stanchions the base is pretty custom to the deck and toe rail. I had two repaired, one snapped off at the base and one very bent. That was 10 years ago and in a salt water environment they have held up perfectly. The repair was made by installing an insert and adding some outer material as well.

This was actually cheaper than getting new and had the advantage of being a perfect fit to the existing.
