Hi Folks, I have an Oday 192 (1986) in sf bay area; as stated in title, Im looking for mast foot w/sheaves for a Z145 mast (Zspar).
Rigrite states ; these mast feet are no longer available and advises to get a mast foot replacement kit for Z145 mast. That gets into a bigger project and I'm hoping for some ideas. New preferred but used could be ok.
thanks,
garym

Gary, what you will wind up doing is getting the new mast foot, that does not have exit sheaves. (The old foot looks like it has cooling fins from a heat sink, with sheaves in the fins.) The new foot is shorter than the old foot, so they also include a 1 1/2" or 2" thick block of starboard or Delrin or some form of plastic, pre drilled for mounting holes. There will also be a deck plate, wider than the plastic block. You need to order the smallest stud blocks they have, these will bolt into the deck plate. You also need some exit hole plates. You will then cut new exit holes in the side of the mast, and halyards will come out and down to the stud blocks, and then up to cleats on the mast, unless you have rigged halyards aft to the cockpit. You'll also have to get longer 1/4-20 SS bolts.

I know how it works, a friend broke his mast step last summer, and we had to install all the new items from Rig-Rite. I can probably get you pictures sooner or later if you really need.

Re: Looking for "mast foot w/ sheaves" for Zspar mast oday

thanks for responding; this is my first time on this site, so excuse clumsyness.
while trying to hoist mast in wind, it got away from me; and dropped it; the ends of the metal that surround the pin ( that slides through) broke off; I salvaged the broken pieces and since I have the boat at home; just for the heck of it, I gorilla glued the pieces back on with 2 coats; I know its "mickey mouse" job ; I even stopped by a welding shop; they that it was pot metal and probably wont weld.
Another problem is with center board line (i will make new post); My line broke and there is nothing going down thru hull to centerboard; what kind of clip ; attachment connects to center board ? much appreciation !

Gary, I wouldn't trust that Gorilla Glue fix. I doubt I would trust any glue fix for such a situation. My friend's broken Z-spar mast step was a similar situation, except he brain-farted significantly, and didn't have the uppers or lowers connected when he lifted the mast. He is suitably ashamed, but at the same time, it was no big deal because we got the parts from Rig-rite and fixed it right up.

Look on McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com) for longer 316 SS bolts for the deck plate and spacer. I can't tell you what length to get as my friend handled that. (I'm pretty sure they were 1/4-20.) You probably need to order the parts from Rig-rite, then pull one of the existing bolts, to see how much longer to order once you receive the new bits from Rig-rite. (We are lucky that McMaster has a warehouse the next state over, so it's usually only a 2 day wait maximum, if not next day.) If it's significantly longer once put back together, you can cut the bolt end off in the cabin with a cutoff wheel in a Dremel style tool or a hacksaw.
