Looking for Maine sailors

I just received a call from work and it looks like I will be commuting between Phoenix AZ and Agusta ME for the next 9-10 months. I will be traveling back and forth as needed and expect that I will be spending at least 2 weekends a month in ME

Since we (wife and I) are on our boat every weekend we are not sure how we will handle the withdraw. She is a school teacher and will travel with me for the summer months.

If there are any Maine sailors that would not mind a few experienced stowe aways for an occaional day cruise we would love to hear from you and/or recomendations for a good charter company.

It is a long commute but I guess this a perfect time as our summer weather has finally arrived with temps heading to 110 this weekend and how can I complain about a paid trip to one of the top 10 sailing locations in the world.

We would love to offer the same to you when your temps fall and you are looking for a nice warm getaway and experience desert lake sailing or Catalina. Not top 10 but not to shabby to be in 60 - 80 degree weather from November - April.

Bay Island Charters in Rockland is good but you'll probably need some salt water and fog experience for them to charter a boat to you.

We charter out of San Diego and LA for Catalina cruises. Not much fog experience unless you call waiting for it to burn off as experience.

Unfortunately Augusta is at least an hour from any decent cruising water but fortunately it is only about an hour from some of the best cruising grounds in the world. It is close to some very nice lakes. I have a camp in Belgrade lakes and it is where I learned to sail as a kid.

Plenty of rentals in Penn Bay. Portland is also a good place to find great sailing. Wed. night racing at Centerboard Yacht Club. Show up at 5pm and I will make sure you will find a spot on a boat(if not mine) for the evening.
