Islander Islander 32, shoal draft, tall rig cruising
I have an Islander 32 but buying a Gemini 3200 and looking for groups to learn about my Gemini. It's a seriously neglected boat and will be an epic restoration.

Hello,
I am helping deliver a 1970 Islander 32 and have some questions.
First, I would like to say that this boat sails well, is very strong, and behaves well in reverse. This is a coastal passage and the weather has been a bit rough.
I would like to recommend some changes to the new owner, and would appreciate assistance in having sources for the replacement equipment.
An extension cord plugs into a cockpit cubby to power the single outlet and trickle charger. How have you modified the AC system? Did you change the charger?
The forward hatch hinge arms need replacement. Have you replaced your forward hatch or replaced the arms?
The port lights all leak. I spent some time yesterday afternoon putting duct tape from the glass to the aluminum frame. I hope to keep more water out from below.
Have you installed a hot water heater or water pressure pump. There are two hand pump fixtures in the boat, which I find very awkward to use.
I look forward to to hearing about the other changes you might have made.
