Recently purchased a 1988 40.
The stem plate/anchor roller made of pot aluminum has broken off at the roller pin.
Has anyone come up with a fix or know of a SS fabricator that can make one with out the unit being removed and sent for detailing the specs of the piece?
Has anyone tried to cut off the roller part and sister on a SS aftermarket anchor/row roller on to the OEM Stem plate?
Any info is appreciated

Unless he sold it already, Rudy has exactly that part in stock! Give him a call and he may have a deal for you (I hope less than what part originally cost to make??). It was returned from an O'DAY Dealer down in the NY/NJ area. It is stainless-steel I think.

That's incredible Rod! How the heck did you know that? I wouldn't know a 40' O'Day anchor roller if I saw one. You must frequent Rudy's store more than I do. The guys has so much stuff in that barn. Have you ever been up in his loft? There's a lot of used O'Day stuff up the ying yang up there!

Actually, the last time that I was able to spend some time there Rudy pulled that O'DAY 40 part out of a box and showed it to me......... told me if I knew any 40 owners looking for it to have them call! I posted it on this site somewhere....,

My O'DAY knowledge is good...... but not THAT good!
Haven't been up in the loft yet..... but that may be the only part of the barn I haven't seen.

Some day when he's not too busy throw him a hint about the loft and he'll take you up there. Tell him I told you about it. It's tough catching him on a day when he's not busy though. Most of the time he's running around in there like a chicken with his head cut off. I really don't know how he does it. I wish he'd slow down some. He had a set back last year that landed him in the hospital for a while. He's a great guy and I hate to lose him.

Maybe I'll run into you some day. Why don't you stop down to the club for a visit this spring or summer? http://www.shawometyachtclub.com/ Just let me know when you can come down so I can be there to give you the grand tour of the premises.
We had two feet of water in the club house during the big storm and I'm told that the inside or the club house is all gutted out. We've hired a carpenter to do the restoration.
