I am looking for info on how to rig the main sail reefing lines on the boom of my H 26.5. I have the UK model, with roller furling jib and UK sails. The main has a single reef sewn in. I can barely read the manual, it is a photocopy. Can anyone give me some help? Where can I get an original rigging manual?

One more thing...
Hunter had 2 different masts/boom manufacturers for the 26.5. I dont know if this would change the reef rigging.?

26.5 reefing
My 26.5 is the shoal draft model with Z spars and UK sail package. The diagrams for the 260 look like they will work! Thanks! Should run the reefing line zig-zagged through the grommets in the belly of the sail and then trough an eye on the bootom slide of the boom then back through a grommet....?

Bottom Grommets
Mine is also Zspar. It has individual lines for the sail's bottom grommets, each going around the boom and tieing to itself (with a loop). With the reefing line going as in the diagram. Maybe the zigzag would work? I sort of like being able to control the reefing "outhaul" capability separately. I've been told not to have the bottom grommett lines too tight, which could happen with the zigzag. ???

I just returned from the Chesapeake, had to reef my 26.5 'cause it was a blowin' out thar! Tightened the toppiong lift, dropped the main, hooked the cringle, tightend the halyard. Pulled out/down the reefing clew and attached three reef lines through the smaller reefing cringles. Worked just fine. (I wouldn't even think about running the reef clew out-downhaul through those smaller cringles, IMHO)

The main reefing line should not be run through the line of smaller cringles/grommets. It goes through the larger cringles (one at the leech (trailing edge of the sail) and the other at the luff (leading edge). The smaller grommets are for smaller line which holds the extra folds of reefed sail and stops them from flapping about. You have a few options here, depending on which works best for you: 1) individual line through each one, to tie the sail to the boom with...a reef knot. 2) a continuous line through all the holes. Harder to tie but you only have one knot to untie when you want to shake out the reef 3) a continuous piece of bungee cord Good luck. Peter H23 "Raven"
