It is almost time for the anual Round Whidbey Race. I will be entering Papillon again and have a few crew positions available. For those unfamiliar with the RWR, it is a 65-nautical mile, non-stop overnight race around Whidbey Island from West Beach just outside of Deception Pass, counterclockwise around the island back to Oak harbor.
This year the race will be held on May 11&12 with a dinner provided by Oak Harbor Yacht Club on the evening of 5/10/24 at Cornet Bay.
Papillon has done the race over a dozen times and is fully equipped with all required gear. Crew is responsible for providing their own personal safety gear (lifejacket, tether, weather gear, ...
Prior racing experience is not needed and is a great place to learn about weather routing, navigation, sailing in big water with big currents, night sailing and having a fine time.
