When pressure washing the boat at haulout this year, the marina staff applied a direct stream to my knotmeter spinning the wheel which blew the paddle wheel off. It is an Autohelm. I don't remember the model right now but the display is square. It is probably an ST30. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement sending unit. It looks like autohelm was bought by Raymarine but I don't see any older autohelm part shown on their site.

local raymarine dealer

a local Raymarine Electronics dealer should be able to order you a new one. Or better yet the marina who power washed the paddle wheel off should be able to order you one and pay for it as well.If you are still at a loss Raymarine(aka autohelm ,raytheon electronics) has a repair station in Manchester Hew Hampshire and may be able to repair your old one if not replace it.See attached link for a dealer in you area.

Who's responsible?

If you aren't then your marina is. They should be able to find a contact either way. I once had to replace mine and the paddle wheel was OK. I just had to get the paddle wheel axle from a supplier. Not a tough job to do once I found the new supplier.

Check Defender

I just bought a whole new knotmeter transducer for my ST-50 last year from defender for about $70. I thought the transducer worked with most (all?) versions of the autohelm/raymarine knotmeters. IIRC the only difference between them were the plugs that feed into the actual meter. The signals are the same. Autohelm transducers, raymarine transducers ... all made by airmar. ;-) matt

Thanks!

Thanks for the responses. I will go to the RayMarine dealer near me and inquire after I verify the model. Yes, I could make the marine pay for this, but in this case I choose not to. It was an honest mistake by a very nice guy who clearly learned that is not a good thing to do from now on. My choice. Overall I believe the marina and staff have helped me out more than this part is going to cost. Sometimes it is good to payback some of that good will.
