Regarding power boat trailers converted to sailboat trailers is bad advice if anyone tells you it can be done. The frame of the trailer is not geared or set up for a sailboat. In addition, you will need a keel tray. Never put the keel tray on the axles as I have seen the results of one such disaster. You might have to put in more frame. In most cases, most do not know what they are doing trying to convert over and I have heard or seen the end result. You simply better know what you are doing. Last year, I had one fellow looking at a Catalina 22 on a trailer. He asked for my advice on converting a power boat trailer. I told him nothing due to liability as this country has gotten too suit happy but mostly for safety. Well, his buddy who knew everything did convert a power boat trailer and half way to the lake, the trailer fell apart. Thankfully, no one was hurt or any other cars involved. Unless you know for sure about boat trailers, do not convert. As for a fifth wheel towing one boat and then to suggest towing another boat beind the travel fifth wheel trailer is suicide. I have seen one accident with one idiot doing that and he lost control very easily killing his family and himself. I knew him and told him not to do it. Don't be foolish on even thinking of pulling two boat trailers in tandem. Too much can go wrong and every state I know of does not allow it.Not many used sailboat trailers and if you find one, make sure a qualified mechanic specializing in boat trailers look it over. Brakes, bearings, racers, leaf spring and attachements, welds, metal fatique, lights, etc... are things to look at.Good luck in your search. I have been pulling boat traielrs for over 40 years and probably have more than everyone else out there. Experience just telling me.
