Looking for a stern chock from a late 70's Columbia 8.7 (may be others)

I am in search of a stern port side chock off of a 1970 era Columbia 8.7

Please let me know any possibilities.

I agree with Dave. You might find it easier to simply replace both sides with a pair that match. Every chandlery will have plenty to choose from. I searched: "Sailboat mooring chocks" which rewarded me with many results. Companies like rig-rite.com might be another good source. Good luck. but don't stress on matching that piece.. It will certainly not affect your boat's market or insurance value. It's not like a vintage car kinda thing.

Looking at your fairlead - it is almost certainly a custom made piece. It looks like it may be cast aluminum. Do you know? Looking at your photo, I have 3 questions - indicated on the image.

1) What is this rod coming in from the side? And is it needed for the other side?
2) Looks like there is a flange going down the outside of the hull - does this go all the way around?
3) I'm not sure what I'm seeing here. Is this part of the fairlead? Some kind of alignment piece?

p.s. one more question - what's the condition of the one on the other side? Totally gone? Broken? Got photos of that one?

Three D metal printing might be a way to do it.. There are some companies that will custom generate one... It probably wouldn't be cheap. It could be fabricated from some plate and angle.. again prolly not cheap..

The answer to #1 is the toerail.

The answer your 2nd question, that is where the wood starts that goes across the stern. You can still see some of the 5200 they used to glue it down.

No #3 is just part of the mounting hardware where the toerail meets the chock.

So the other side is broken pretty bad. It would not look right being installed.

The piece is cast aluminum. From what I can gather so far, it looks like they were used on late 70's Columbia 8.3, 8.7 and maybe some of the 9's.

I will post a picture of the original one that got damaged during Helene. Need to go to the boat to get it..

The answer to #1 is the toerail.

If the other side has all it's parts, or at least you could reconstruct it well enough, you could use it as a mold to get a new aluminum piece cast. That's what I'd look into doing in any case.

You could try additive manufacturing, but that is a pretty big piece for that technology. I think you'd be better served reconstructing the broken piece and getting a replacement cast.

Or fabricate a replacement.
