I am looking for a copy of Get Your Captain's License, Fourth Edition for a relatively reasonable (read cheap) price. If anyone has one, with CD, laying around shoot me an email of message me please. mpdfrankiedogs@yahoo.com

I thought of putting this in parts search, but felt it didn't fit, if it should go elsewhere admin, please move it.

Is that all you have to do is read a book and write a test to get your captain's papers. What size vessel is this captain's papers good for?

Having just got my 6 pack lic I can tell you there is a lot more to it. You can go on the USCG site for the latest requirements - in nutshell:

Pass the test either at a regional exam center or at a qualified test center. A TWIC card which requires a security background search - photos/fingerprints etc. Sea experience ( if not on your boat - then it must be signed off by the master of the vessel). 3 original letters of recommendation, physical - drug test.

Without taking a course be prepared to spend upwards of 500. If using a a educator/testing service add another 300-500.

It depends on what you have experience in. Me I am looking for an OUPV license to start. Go to the USCG website and it breaks down the criteria

I have a copy og "The Coast Guard License" 6pac to master-100 Tons. 16th ed. It was pub is 1998. Still worthy. Bob
