Help. I'm looking for a bucket with a rubber flap on the bottom for easy filling at the end of a rope. West Marine doesn't carry it anymore. Anyone know where I can find one.

Don't bother looking. To easily get water in the bucket, make sure you have a long line on the handle. Then simply drop the bucket so that the TOP of the bucket )The OPEN end) goes into the water FIRST. It may take you a few tries, but once you get the hang of it, you'll never have to worry about getting water in your bucket again. You can also use it, without hesitation, as a bailer. Hope you never have to...

Davis is the company that had that bucket. Check thier Web site.

How hard can it be to make one?

Cut a hole in the bottom of a bucket, plus a couple of smaller screw holes...a rubber flap (plus maybe a hinge in the flap), a couple of screws, rubber washers, and nuts... Voila--the bucket you're looking for--prob'ly half the price, too.

full bucket every time

Bob; Drop the bucket (with line attached) at about a 45 degree angle, open end down. Fills every time.

A very simple solution is to tie a 2 oz sinker to one side of the bucket bail. This will always tip the bucket over and fill it. When you pull the bucket up it will straighten out and come up full. Be careful about filling the bucket underway. It makes a lovely drogue and can haul you right overboard.
