Many US Manufacturers install a SS tube mounted to the Keel and then running up to the interior cabin top supporting the deck stepped mast. I'm sure that this adaption was to shorten the overall length and elminate the mast boot required on all keel stepped masts. I wish that I had a photo of one. Maybe another member of this blog can send you a photo.

You can communicate to RigRite. They might have sawed off section.

There are pros and cons of keel step mast. I have a a keel step mast and love it. We pull our boat out of the water for the winter every year. The stepping is easier with keel stepped mast as it won't fall over without a stay hooked up.

Deck stepped mast has a SS tube underneath the cabin top to the keel called compression post. It's cheaper for the manufacture and no need to worry about rain boot on the deck to keep water running down to the cabin. It is also shorter to anodize and transport by truck.

Question is why do you want to change it anyway. Is it because damage or you just like keel step?
